La Graviere - Foxfire at night

What hell is that…. was my first thought when looking out of the caravan window one night, something was glowing green in the garden!!!

My digital camera couldn’t really capture a good image of the glow, but it real life is was real bright!

I began to wonder what on earth had been used in the land that would make wood glow green at night? you never know what chemicals could have caused this. But as our land has only ever been farmed organically it can’t be anything the previously used.

After a bit of Googling, It turns out is something called Foxfire…a bioluminescence created by fungi in decaying wood. BTW, apparently it has noting to do with foxes, the fox bit comes from the French for false, Faux… i.e. false fire

Who knew?
